You Can Save a Child

Golden Horseshoe
Children of Chernobyl

“You can help”

Although the Chernobyl disaster does not currently occupy the headlines as it did when the nuclear reactor exploded in the Soviet Ukraine on April 26, 1986, the aftermath of this catastrophe continues to have devastating effects on the people living Belarus. Contaminated soil and water have continue to contribute to poor nutrition, weakened immune systems and other health problems in the people living in the areas contaminated by Chernobyl. This is particularly true for the children.

Golden Horseshoe Children of Chernobyl facilitates and where possible, funds life saving respite visits to our area for those children.

The children stay with dedicated host families who provide the visiting Belarusian children with day-to-day care in a loving and stable environment. Provide lots of wholesome food, fresh clean air and the love that will make them feel at home in a foreign country so different from their own. The host family is required to provide basic living costs, clothing and in some cases medical expenses.

To sponsor a child, the host parents also need to raise $2,000 for visa’s, insurance and transportation, while they pick up the tab for everything while the children are here.

“You can help” Whether your donation is personal, corporate or through a service club, church group or community organization; the money will allow more families to participate in this life saving program. Donations can be targeted to sponsor specific children and most families encourage interaction between the child and their sponsor.
